Dewberry seemed perfect on the outside.
In what ways were the townsfolk wrong on the inside?
1 Samuel 16:7 says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
We may know the true meaning of Christmas in our heads, but if we’re honest it can be hard to believe it in our hearts. It can be easy for us to know the right answers and say the right things without caring much about drawing close to God. Jesus once said,
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” (Matthew 15:8)
At Christmas time, we celebrate that Jesus came to us. Because of this gift, we have an invitation to go to Him
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8)
Take time to pray together as a family.
Ask God to soften your heart as you draw near to Him this season.
