Pastor Search Plan

At the beginning of 2024, The MET began seeking God for its next Lead Pastor. The church is healthy, strong, and vibrant. Our eldership and leadership team are unified and excited for the man God chooses to bring to lead our church into the future. And that future remains focused on lifting our city with the gospel and making disciples who make disciples. A fantastic staff and an incredible team of people who serve throughout the church also means that The MET is poised to continue in its momentum and pursuit of inviting people into meaningful relationship with God and each other. The MET Church is located on the Northwest side of Houston.  We are a progressive worship environment, ultra-relational, and have a huge heart for discipleship.  We seek Truth from God’s word and love to celebrate the work that God is doing through our church and staff.

Our goal is to develop and grow an intentional environment designed to invite individuals with disabilities into a meaningful relationship with Jesus while building a community of families that are well supported and equipped for discipleship.  We are seeking an individual that is experienced in working with people with disabilities and has a passion & gifting in this area.  This is an amazing opportunity for someone who may be exploring a calling into ministry or who loves to build impactful programming and support its growth.

The WHY

This opportunity to support individuals with disabilities will be an empowering resource to a community of families who often feel overlooked and unequipped. You will be encouraged to dream, create ways to improve upon, and implement steps towards growing a program that is seeking to invite all people into meaningful relationship with God and each other.  You get to serve in a capacity that enables parents and siblings to attend regular church services and ministry programs who otherwise may not be able to do so.  You will get to celebrate important developmental & spiritual milestones while equipping parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their families. 

Ministry Expectations:
    • Live out the core virtues and mission of The MET to invite others into meaningful relationship with God and each other.
    • Partner with Kids Pastor to identify mission, vision, and strategy programming that support individuals with disabilities.
    • Provide leadership and be the primary point of contact on Sunday mornings, and potentially Wednesday nights, for programming that accommodates persons with disabilities.  
    • Recruit and build a team of trained volunteers that will foster a nurturing environment and support the programming needs for those participating.
    • Schedule weekly volunteers and delegate out responsibilities to effectively prepare curriculum and materials to be Sunday and Wednesday ready; Ensure classes are properly staffed with trained adults to support the number of those participating (minimum 1 adult to every 2 disabled individuals). 

 

  • Identify, develop and execute on volunteer training that uphold our values around safety & security, including the use of our facility space and our standard of care procedures, ensuring volunteers are all equipped and well supported to promote a safe environment. 

 

  • Partner with the Kids Pastor to identify opportunities for discipleship and to equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their families; Develop methods & avenues to care for siblings & parents (i.e., family gatherings/events; small group opportunities).
  • Actively seek solutions when there are challenges in the classroom or when a family is struggling to participate in church due to their child’s disability. 
  • Maintain church databases, including Fellowship One Check-in & assignments, and proactively update facility request systems.
  • Other tasks as needed to advance the growth and impact of a new developing program. 
Qualifications
  • You are a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of The MET Church (or willing to transfer membership to The MET). 
  • You agree with and act in accordance with The MET’s Statement of Beliefs.
  • Must be actively involved in or leading a discipleship small group.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proven work experience working with individuals with a wide range of disabilities and ages.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor with all students.
  • Forward thinking. You anticipate the needs of future events in preparation for the short-term and long-term goals & objectives.
  • Solution oriented as well as flexible to the ever-changing needs of building a new program.
Hours and Physical Work Requirements

This is a part-time, hourly position with an anticipated work week up to 15 hours/week.  This person must be available Sunday mornings (4 hours), Tuesday morning staff meetings (1 hour), and Wednesday evenings (2.5 hours).  The remaining 7.5 hours will be assigned and determined by the supervisor and may evolve based on the needs of the program. 

The coordinator must also be able to handle the physical requirements that often come with working with persons of disabilities.  They must be able to help support the weight of an individual who has physical difficulties and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.  They must also be able to kneel, sit on the floor, squat, crawl, etc. to help support the physical needs of the individual.

WHO WE ARE

Lamb School is an early childhood Christian education center located in Northwest Houston at The MET Church.  At the Lamb School, we want to joyfully partner with families to instill a love for God’s word and an eagerness to learn in the hearts of their children. We want to help young children grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Lamb School offers classes for ages 6 months – 1st grade, including extended care offerings.  We incorporate enrichment classes into our weekly schedules such as Music & Movement, Spanish and our Discovery lab.

 The Young Preschool Teacher (for infants up to 2 years of age) should be cheerful, enthusiastic, and outgoing with a desire to serve and disciple the body of Christ by caring for those with whom they encounter daily. This person co-teaches in the classroom alongside another Young Preschool Teacher.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Plan a daily schedule of activities utilizing the following curriculum guides: Little Lambs Curriculum by Faith Alive Christian Resources and Frog Street Press Colors and Shape Curriculum. 
  • Lesson Plans should reflect a special focus on spiritual development. 
  • Lesson Plans developed with co-teacher and submitted to Program Assistant on designated date each month. 
  • Monitor classroom record-keeping, to include daily sign in/out and monthly attendance records as required by state licensing. 
  • Communicate to parents by utilizing Daily Reports on each child to reflect eating habits, potty habits and changing of diapers. 
  • Supervise assigned students daily to ensure development and safety. 
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the classroom and playground. 
  • Inventory classroom equipment, replenish supplies, and return all unused supplies to the resource room. 
  • Communicate necessary classroom information to parents and supervisory staff and maintain professional conduct. 
  • Model positive guidance techniques and is able to explain the program’s mission and vision to parents and prospective families. 
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings. 
  • Maintain discipline and control in classroom while providing a Christian atmosphere. 
  • Keep current knowledge of and comply with criteria as outlined by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Minimum Standards for Child Care facilities. 
  • Must acquire 24 hours of training per year as defined by The Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You must be 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • You have 6 months of related experience in a licensed childcare facility and or/church ministry environments. 
  • You must comply with criteria defined in 746.1107 of the Texas Minimus Standards for Child Care Licensing. 
  • You will accept, abide and support the policies of Lamb School, its educational philosophy, and objectives. 
  • You demonstrate a collaborative approach with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents.

SCHEDULE

Position Summary

To be a role model for the parents, students and staff. To foster the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child. To instill in the hearts of children a love for God’s Word and an eagerness to learn. To prepare the hearts of children to receive Christ while modeling Christ-like character and attitudes in the classroom.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans a daily schedule of activities utilizing curriculum guides provided by the Lamb School Administration
  • Writes lesson plans reflecting a special focus on spiritual development while also addressing whole child development; trains on and implements activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age group of the classroom.
  • Develops lesson plans and submits to Assistant Director on designated date each month, adjusting as recommended
  • Monitors classroom record keeping including daily sign in/out and monthly attendance records as required by state licensing
  • Supervises assigned students daily to ensure development and safety
  • Assesses assigned students regularly and prepares written progress reports
  • Conducts a fall parent teacher conference to promote family relationship building and a spring conference to present a written progress report on each child’s development
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety of the classroom and playground
  • Inventories classroom equipment, replenishes supplies, returns all unused supplies to the resource room
  • Communicates necessary classroom and school information to parents and supervisory staff and maintains professional conduct
  • Models positive guidance techniques and can explain the program’s mission and vision to parents and prospective families
  • Attends scheduled trainings and staff meetings
  • Maintains discipline and control in the classroom while providing a Christian atmosphere
  • Keeps current knowledge of and adherence to the criteria as outlined by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Minimum Standards for Child Care Facilities

Work Environment

Dismissal time is 2:30 pm, as well as other times as required by the ministry workload and as directed by leadership.

Work Environment

Contracted schedule will be during a Tuesday and Thursday work week with 8:00 arrival time and 2:45 dismissal time, as well as other times as required by the ministry workload and as directed by leadership.
