The Discipleship Wheel

The Discipleship Wheel shows us that discipleship is a journey. We start out needing to be cared for, we grow by being taught and trained, and eventually, we’re equipped to make disciples ourselves. It’s all about relational growth,  just like Jesus modeled.

See where you are. Help others take their next step.
See where you are. Help others take their next step.

The Discipleship Wheel shows that following Jesus is a journey of growth. Every believer is somewhere on this path — from exploring faith to becoming a disciple-maker. The goal isn’t only to see your own next step, but also to recognize where others are and walk with them toward maturity in Christ.

The Stages of Growth

  • Dead – not yet following Jesus; needs the Gospel.

  • Infant – new believer; needs care and teaching.

  • Child – growing believer; needs encouragement and modeling.

  • Young Adult – maturing believer; needs training and opportunities to serve.

  • Parent – disciple-maker; helps others grow and multiply.
