A New Rhythm for Our Church Family
As we look ahead to the coming season, we’re introducing a new monthly rhythm designed to support healthy families, strong ministry environments, and meaningful connection.
Watch the video below to hear more about the heart behind First Wednesdays and what you can expect.
At The Met, we want to be a church where people can slow down, breathe, and grow together. In this next season, we’re creating a simple, intentional rhythm that helps our church family stay healthy and connected. First Wednesdays are all about making space — space to gather, to learn, to build relationships, and to be refreshed in God’s presence. Once a month, Men, Women, and Kids will come together for a night designed to strengthen faith, deepen community, and give families and volunteers the margin they need to thrive. We’re excited to take this step together and see how God uses it to shape us in the year ahead.
FAQs for First Wednesdays
Why We’re Making This Change
A healthier rhythm for a healthier church family.
A healthy church begins with a healthy church family. As we prayed and planned for this next season, we recognized something important: our volunteers, leaders, and families need margin to breathe, rest, and refuel so they can continue serving with joy.
This shift isn’t about doing less — it’s about doing what matters most, and doing it well.
What First Wednesday Will Look Like
Men, Women, and Kids gathering one night each month.
Starting in February, Men, Women, and Kids will gather on the first Wednesday of each month for a night of connection, discipleship, and shared community.
Shifting to First Wednesday creates one intentional night each month for us to come together with purpose.
Instead of stretching ministry leaders across multiple weekly commitments, this rhythm allows them to pour deeply into one night — creating richer relationships, better environments, and more meaningful ministry.
Why This Helps Families
A night you can look forward to, without weekly pressure.
Family life is busy. School, work, sports, homework… it all adds up quickly.
This new rhythm gives families a single night to look forward to each month — a chance to reset, connect, and grow spiritually without the pressure of a weekly commitment.
It gives parents breathing room, and gives Kids Ministry the consistency to create great experiences.
How First Wednesday Supports Our Volunteers
Margin for leaders to rest, prepare, and serve with joy.
Our volunteers and leaders give so much of themselves. Moving to First Wednesday creates space for them to rest, recharge, and prepare — which leads to more joyful serving, better connection, and healthier long-term ministry.
Healthy volunteers make a healthy church.
We’re Treating This Year as an Experiment
We want to listen, learn, and adjust together.
We’re treating this year as a shared experiment — a chance to try something new, listen well, and learn together.
If this rhythm helps our church grow healthier and more connected, we’ll continue it.
If it doesn’t, we’ll adjust.
Our goal is simple: create space for people to engage, rest, and experience spiritual growth in community.
