LEVEL UP WKND

At the WKND, students gather for worship, biblical teaching, small group time, and crazy amounts of fun. It’s the biggest weekend of our student ministry. Our desire is that students would encounter Jesus in a whole new way and begin living on mission in their schools, on their sports teams, and in the city of Houston. It’s like summer camp in February.

We’re also looking for adult volunteers to come make a difference in the lives of students and be blessed in the process. Follow the registration links below to sign up and be part of this amazing event.

You and your friends (grouped by grade) will be staying in awesome host homes—8 to 10 of you, all 7th-12th graders. Girls stick with girls and guys with guys. Bring your bedding, snacks, and an open heart, because this is where the fun happens! Church families will host you, and your adult leaders will guide your small group discussions. It’s like summer camp, but in a cozy home for the weekend! Expect plenty of bonding, laughter, and spiritual growth as you hang out together between host home time, worship sessions at The HUB, and serving opportunities.

The energy ramps up during large group worship at The HUB! Gather with all your friends for powerful worship, singing, prayer, and moments of fun before diving into breakout sessions. It’s a high-energy, faith-filled experience that you won’t forget!

Student WKND is an impactful experience for our students, and it wouldn’t be possible without the incredible families who open their homes and the dedicated volunteers who step up to serve. Whether hosting a group or helping with meals and transportation, your involvement makes a difference. We’re so grateful for the way you support our students and leaders during this unforgettable weekend!

Here are some FAQs around Student WKND!
Here are some FAQs around Student WKND!

BE A HOST HOME FOR STUDENT WKND

  • Provide a bedroom for group leader(s) and a sleeping space for students (students bring their own bedding).
  • Provide breakfast for students on Saturday morning (cereal to full breakfast—your choice).
  • Help with transportation to and from the church (let us know how many seats you have).
  • Background check and child safety training required for adults 18+ staying in your home.
  • Group leaders will stay with the students and manage them during the weekend.
  • Emergency contact provided for support throughout the event.
What if I don’t have a large home?

You don’t need a large home to be a host! As long as you can provide a bedroom for the leader(s) and a space for students to sleep (like a living room or game room), you’re all set. Students will bring their own sleeping bags or air mattresses, so they won’t need beds.

Do I have to provide all meals for the students?

No, as a host home, we only ask that you provide breakfast on Saturday morning. You can keep it simple with cereal and fruit, or you can cook something more involved—it’s totally up to you!

What about safety and background checks?

Safety is a top priority. You will need to complete a background check and child safety training if you don’t have one already on file with The MET. This is required for everyone over 18 staying in your home during the event. We’ll guide you through the process, so it’s quick and easy.

I’m nervous about having a lot of teenagers in my home. Will I have help?

Absolutely! Each host home will have adult group leaders staying with the students to supervise and guide them throughout the weekend. You won’t be alone in managing the group, and the leaders are trained to handle any situations that come up.

Do I have to stay with the students for the entire weekend?

No, your primary role is providing a safe space for the students to sleep and meet, providing breakfast on Saturday, and helping with transportation. You don’t need to stay for the whole event, but you’re welcome to attend worship services if you’d like.

What if I don’t have a vehicle big enough to transport everyone?

That’s okay! We just ask that you assist with transportation if you’re able. Let us know how many seats you have, and we’ll work out the rest to ensure all students have rides to and from the church.

How many students will be staying in my home?

The number of students will vary, but we aim to keep groups manageable based on the space available. Most homes will host between 8-12 students, along with their group leader(s).

What if an emergency happens during the weekend?

We will provide you with a contact person who will be available at all times during the weekend. In case of any issues or emergencies, you’ll have support from church staff.

BE A DRIVER FOR STUDENT WKND
BE A DRIVER FOR STUDENT WKND
  • Must have enough seatbelts for all students.
  • Students cannot ride in the bed of trucks or outside the vehicle.
  • Only responsible for transportation, not required to stay for sessions (optional).
  • Background check and child safety training required.
  • Stay connected with group leader for scheduling and updates.
  • Let us know your availability for driving times.
What kind of vehicle do I need to be a driver?

You don’t need a special vehicle, just enough seatbelts for all the students you’ll be transporting. All students must wear seatbelts, and no one is allowed to ride in the bed of a truck or outside of a moving vehicle.

Do I have to stay with the group for the entire weekend?

No, your primary responsibility is transportation. You can stay for the main sessions if you’d like, but you aren’t required to attend any events beyond driving.

What if I can only drive at certain times?

We will work with your availability. You can let us know your schedule, and we’ll assign transportation duties accordingly.

Do I need to complete a background check if I’m only driving?

Yes, since you’ll be responsible for transporting students, you will need to complete a background check and child safety training if you don’t already have one on file with The MET.

What should I do if I run late for pick-up or drop-off?

Stay in contact with your group leader. We’ll make sure you have their contact information to keep transportation on track throughout the weekend.

BE AN EVENT VOLUNTEER FOR STUDENT WKND
BE AN EVENT VOLUNTEER FOR STUDENT WKND
  • Tasks include serving meals, greeting students, setting up games/supplies, check-in, and concessions.
  • Choose time blocks that fit your schedule.
  • Roles available for both direct and behind-the-scenes service.
  • Background check required.
  • Dress comfortably and modestly, with comfortable shoes recommended.
What kind of tasks will I be doing as a volunteer?

Volunteers help with various tasks like serving meals, greeting students, setting up games and supplies, selling concessions, or assisting with check-ins. We’ll place you where help is most needed.

How long will I need to serve?

You can choose time blocks that fit your schedule. You don’t have to commit to the entire weekend, just the specific blocks of time you sign up for.

Do I need to interact with students directly?

Not necessarily. While some roles involve interacting with students (like greeting or check-in), others (like serving food or setting up supplies) don’t require as much direct engagement. We’ll help you find a role that suits you.

Do I need to complete a background check if I’m just serving food or helping with setup?

Yes, since you’ll be present during an event with minors, a background check is required to ensure the safety of all students.

What should I wear as a volunteer?

Dress comfortably and modestly for the activities you’re helping with. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes, as you may be on your feet for part of your time.
